Eric began fencing in 1976, and started Coaching in 1990.  

He regularly attend the United States Fencing Assosiation Coaches College at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Eric currently hold a level 3 ranking with the Coaches College.

During 1991 Eric began working with the Cal Poly Fencing Club and hold much responsibility for rejuvanizing it.
